Welcome to my First EVER Blog! In thinking about what i should talk about that could possibly be of interest to people I dont know yet - I decided to share my journey to become au fait with Social Media - social networking and digital marketing. Being a "baby boomer" -this did not come naturally but over the past year I have come to realise the power of 'The People'and how a brand can be made or 'broken' through social media. I refer here to what happened in Egypt for example.
I had a powerful 'moment of truth' when I realised that I would not be a viable or employable Marketing Manager in the future if I cannoy include Social media proficiency in mt skill set. I realised I needed to urgently upskill myself to remain relevant.
During my feverish research (which is hugely frustratng at work working wih snail pace servers and internet connectivity) I also discovered that there are not many brands getting it right which presents me with an exciting opportunity. What blows my mind every day is the plethora of information available about Social media and everything related and it is so difficult to find the pearls of wisdom.
My next post will be about the process I am following, the difficulties encountered and things I am grappling with.
